COPTHILL SCHOOL - AUTUMN 2022 NEWSLETTER

We’re Junior School of the Year!
In the summer of 2022, during a moment of reflection, I entered our school for the ISA Junior School of the Year Award. The opening paragraph of our application read as follows:
“Copthill is a unique primary school. Founded in 1969 by Mr and Mrs Teesdale (Snr.), the school's first pupils were the three Teesdale sons. The sons are now directors with day-to-day roles as Principal, Bursar and Director of Sport. Mrs Teesdale recognised the importance of childhood and this is a principle we stand by today, the most important phrase of our vision statement being ‘the child at the heart’.”
When we were announced as winner of the award, the Chief Executive Officer of ISA explained:
“Copthill School truly lives up to its mission statement of ‘The Child at Heart’. Pupils benefit from a diverse range of learning across the curriculum and extensive enrichment opportunities in sports, arts, within the community and beyond. It is evident that the provision has been tailored to embody the school’s values. ISA are proud to recognise Copthill School as our Junior School of the Year.”
I hope that this review of a wonderfully busy and learning-packed autumn term serves to prove the CEO’s statement, and also offers a snapshot of the many ways in which our children are provided with opportunities to achieve and succeed across all areas of a very broad curriculum.
As Year 3 taught us in their Christmas performance of ‘Peter Pan Saves Santa’, our children will grow up, but they will grow up as Copthill Learners with the curiosity, excitement, desire and drive to be lifelong learners, seizing every opportunity to pursue their dreams and to write their own success stories at each stage of their journey.
As ever, my thanks to the children, all of our Copthill families and my incredible team of colleagues who make Copthill School such a special place to be.
