COPTHILL SCHOOL - SUMMER 2021 NEWSLETTER

Head''s News

Go out and explore our wonderful world

On the day that we welcomed our new Reception parents into school for the first time, I was watching CBBC’s Newsround with Year 5.

Newsround is perhaps the best way to keep up-to-date with what is going on in the world because happy news is shared as well as strange stories! During this particular edition, Michael Morpurgo was interviewed. The famous author of the most brilliant books was asked what advice he would give to the children watching. He said, Go out and explore our wonderful world. Enjoy it. Work as hard as you can. Play as hard as you can. Have fun! I shared these words with the new Reception parents, and with Year 6 as they marked the end of their Copthill journey at their Leavers’ Celebration, because I think Michael Morpurgo’s words perfectly reflect our school vision for our children. After a turbulent year across the world, we hope that Copthill has provided something of a safe haven and allowed them to be just that - children.

As you peruse this review of the summer term, I know you will find lots of happy news and maybe even some strange stories. My thanks as ever to the children, families, staff and Directors of Copthill who ensure that, in my role as headteacher at this very special and unique school, I get to work hard, play hard and have fun!

Enjoy the summer sunshine and we look forward to starting our next chapter together when we return in September.
